I was rummaging through my craft stuff and I came across these slightly rectangular metal tins. I know I bought them from Stampin' Up! during one of their clearance sales, but I cannot remember why I bought them or how long I've had them. On Pinterest I have seen little mint tins reused into little travel lego sets and so I thought I would do that to these. The tins I have are probably twice the size of mint tins, so I needed kind of a large lego piece for the top. There really aren't any lego pieces that big except for base plates. So I ordered a couple of base plates and cut them with craft scissors. They actually cut easier than I thought they would.
Then I hot glued the cut base plate to the top of the tin. Does anyone use hot glue anymore? It was the only thing I had. If it doesn't hold, I will use gorilla glue.
I made six tins all together. I am sure each boy will get one. The others I think we'll fill with Lego mystery mini figures and use as gifts.
Here they are with some Legos in them.
So, yes, the whole year of 2014 went by without a blog post. I have still made stuff... I've mostly knitted, but I've also sewed and scrapbooked. I made some pretty cool stuff in 2014. Now I'll have to make some more and remember to blog about it.
Happy New Year!!!

ReplyDeleteTo answer your question, yes, people DO use hot glue....like me! It must be reserved for the very best crafters :). I've used it recently to glue sea shells to my door signs and to fix a wall hanging. I also used it to fix my manger roof. Nice to hear from you. Stay warm with those double fire places!
